I hear you. I don't think it's the kind of thing that's irreversible, nor will
it cause airplanes to fall out of the sky. It's a design choice. I also
understand the desire to get something out to expose what we know. My concern
is that monitoring integration (i.e. JMX) is a public interface that becomes
hard to change once we release it. Maybe we can split the difference and say
that this is "evolving and may change" or something like that? I do like the
idea of getting it out sooner rather than later so following with additional
JIRAs seems OK (I think we have a few places like that ;)).
