I'm sending you a demo file to demonstrate the minimum required to
achieve this.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Hans,
thanks for the help. I understand better about the portals, but I
am now having problems being able to view data within the portal.
Even if I make a new table for the portal, I guess I am not doing
the right relationship, bc once I make the portal. It will not
allow me to write anything in it?
Thanks for you help!

Sorry....
And of course a few fields to link and display data.
Hans
If you use Filemaker's tabs and place the same portal in each and
every tab they will all show the same data since they are
actually all showing the same record/s from the same related file
depending on data entered into the same originating record.
When using Filemaker's tabs the originating table is always only
one and the same table. So the data displayed is always based on
the same data in the parent record
I think you need to take a close look at how relations work when
used in portals placed in Filemaker's tabs.
I had a pretty hard time getting this my self once but finally got
it by creating a test file that did contain nothing but some
tables a tab layout and some portals.
Kind regards
Hans

I have a portal row within different tabs, all the same portal

connected?
thanks!
