Roger:

It is the Microsoft product. You can download it, for free,
from their website. After you install it, you have to install the second
OS, bring it up-to-date and then install whatever applications you want to
run. I had an original version of XP so the update process took awhile.
There were more than 100 updates to download and install, along with a
number of reboots. The MS website has a white paper on the product that is
very helpful. It takes you through the installation process step by step
and provides instructions on how to use it.

               Good luck.

Charlie, the Virtual PC you're using, is this the same Virtual PC that
Microsoft recently released so that people having Vista and older OS's on
their desktop could switch back and forth via virtual PC?

I haven't installed it yet and was wondering how well it works.

I installed Vista and FMP 8.5. FMP started ok but layout and relationship
graph screens go black when I click on them. Creating tables & fields seems
to work ok, as do queries and printing. Solved the problem by installing
Virtual PC on my machine and installing XP and FMP to run on the virtual
machine. I can't print from it because the virtual platform does not find
any USB ports. If you have a printer that uses a printer port, you should be
ok. With Virtual PC you can have both operating systems running at the
same time and it is very easy to move back and forth between them. I use
the XP version for everything but printing and then drag the file over to
Vista to print. A minor inconvenience. The database is in the development
stage and is not used for production. In a production setting it would be
better to wait for the Vista certified edition of FMP.

Another possibility is to set up a dual boot machine, installing the older
OS first. This solution is not as convenient as you can only use one system
at a time.
