I've already requested this feature several times, basically each
time Versions 6, 7, 8, and 9 came out without it.
The one default I'd really like control over is vertical alignment,
which I almost always want to be "Centered" but still have to set
manually each time.
also when cleaning up older (or sloppy!) layouts i get extremely
bored having to type the specific values to adjust all fields on
the layout and would like to select a group of fields and reset to
a default value, or at least be able to define an identical sizùe
for a number of selected fields.
Yes, here FMI has paid attention. Beginning with, I believe, Version
9, the "Arrange" toolbar has been divided into 2 separate toolbars,
"Arrange" and "Align". And if you look at the last 6 items in the
"Align" toolbar (which only light up when you've got 2 or more layout
objects selected), you'll see that you now have the capability to set
all selected objects to (a) widest width, (b) narrowest width, (c)
tallest height, (d) shortest height, (e) overall biggest, or (f)
overall smallest.
I set these toolbars to "Show", then unanchor them from the top of
the screen and let them float, usually in the lower right corner,
until I need them. The new features have proved to be quite a time-
saver.
