Hi Lee,

An act of Congress authorized the use of electronic signatures as part of commerce over the internet.

MS Access apparently has that capability built into it.

I would suggest that FileMaker come up to the 21s Century with respect to the same.

Chuck

not being a lawyer i thought this sort of thing would come under the same legal fact that you may have a signed check but that doesn't mean its your check. The validity of any document is only as good as your legal right to it

...how does Adobe 'get away with it' in their PDF electronic signature system?

Chuck,

I don't think there is a legal way. I am not sure what you are trying to do here. Since the fm file would leave the chain of custody, the authentication of an electronic record maybe considered compromised.

Is there a way to apply an electronic signature to a FMP record or even a one-record DB?

I need some legally acceptable means of verifying that a certain individual using a certain computer generated or populated a single-record database, as in a FMPA generated solution that has only one record in it that a user populates and then sends via e- mail to another individual. The document/database is in blank and not specifically designated for that individual when they get it and begin to populate it.

Any suggestions?

Chuck
