You can resize any (and all) characters after the first "<". This first
character is the "magic" character that holds the information. You can then
'down size' the remaining characters. I prefer to keep the first few
characters full-size, just as your developer did. That allows you to read
*something*! I also like to preserve the full-size for the ending ">>", as
it allows me to see where it ends in multiple-merge-field strings.
