What I do in these cases is design a blank layout with just a text box containing the message and maybe a coloured background.

The script navigates to this layout and then freezes the window until the process is finished, after which the script can take the user to any layout required.

Little overhead and it works well.

I have a script that creates a bunch of records, and it takes upwards of 10 seconds to complete the task. Between the time the user gives the go-ahead to do it and the time the task runs to completion, I'd like to flash a brief message on the screen saying "Thanks. Please wait a bit.". This is NOT a dialog ("di-" implies that the user may have something to say back), it's a monolog — 1- way, from me to the user, no response expected or desired.

I figured I could probably achieve this objective just by inserting a Show Custom Dialog step and not entering anything in any of the 3 button-label boxes, then following it with a Pause/Resume Script step with a duration of 1 second. Alas, foiled. FMP automatically displays my dialog box with an "OK" button.

Anyone got any hints about how I can just flash my monolog box?
