Re: Filemaker server Advanced 11 on MacMini and Windows 7

Yep, it's the locked-down firewalls on those Win7 machines (with good
reason!), but you can just get it working by opening up port 5003 in those
particular client machines.

To be fair, you can't rely on your IT guys to know that. Sure, they could
grow up and not blame things that they don't know much about, but that is
not in their nature. You just need to take them by the hand and lead them
down the path to true enlightenment. ::-)

Hi all.

I have Filemaker server Advanced 11 on MacMini and Filemaker Pro 11v3
running on Windows 7, Windows XP pro and Filemaker Pro 11v4 Macs with
Snow Leopard.

Everything has been running smoothly until recently we the IT guys from
the big PC company are setting up Windows 7 on some machines. Then we
sometimes get error messages that the Windows 7 firewall has blocked some
features of the Filemaker program. After that we can see the server in
open remote but no list of databases appears under them. This seems to
happen to some machines but not all

Any ideas?

Of course the IT guys at the PC company blame the MacMini and Filemaker
Server advanced... I am not buying that for one second. My bet is that
they are setting up Windows 7 on the PC machines differently.....
