Limited amount of knowledge on Wireless but the obvious is using a decent
firewall that doesn't block authentication and association to an access point
on boot up[i know mine does]
zone alarm doesn't
Make sure that the card is set for infrastructure mode and not ad hoc
obviously educate as much as you can
Plug an ethernet cable into the back of the AP :P

Subject: Internet security on "hotspots"

I have a friend who is interested in better securing her laptop while
she's out surfing the net at coffeehouses and what not. I'm thinking of
telling her to just get herself a REALLY good firewall program (I use
zonealarm pro myself), but I was wondering if anyone here had any other
ideals or thoughts that I could pass onto her other than that.
