Limited amount of knowledge on Wireless but the obvious is using a decent firewall that doesn't block authentication and association to an access point on boot up[i know mine does] zone alarm doesn't Make sure that the card is set for infrastructure mode and not ad hoc obviously educate as much as you can Plug an ethernet cable into the back of the AP :P
