i've no experience of arabic pdfs, so i can not say...
my only experience in reverting words was for workarounding some
problems when i was using batik.. but i would be happy to share if the
solution can be to revert character orders

...which is not supported by FOP, yet!!! ATM you would need to invert
the characters yourself.
If anyone is out there with knowledge about the different writing modes
and the particularities of the affected languages (Japanese,
Arabic.....)
we would be very happy to welcome such a person within the circle of
FOP developers. The new development code is already much better
prepared
to handle all writing modes, but someone has to do the actual
implementation.

I have a strange problem with Arabic Characters embedded in XSL
Files and transformed in pdf with FOP 0.20.5
I join you different files to describe the pb :
* the ttf file for the font compatiblity
* the xml file produced from the ttf file with TTFReader
* the userconfig.xml to embed the used Times font
* the xml input file with 2 tags, one in english and one in Arabic
* the XSL-FO file to transform the xml file
* and the produced PDF file
The pb is that the Arabic Word in completly inverted in PDF, I do
not understand why. The several examples seems very clear on that
subject so maybe, I have forgotten something ...
