Hi,

1. I don't know why you want to start serial_test automatically at startup,
because it doesn't help you at all and makes no difference at all. Because
if you login via ssh you cannot see the output. but anyway. you have to make
a new entry in the file /etc/inittab.

there are several entries (or none, whatever) after the line with sysinit

just make a new line:
ser:3:once:/path/to/the/file

2. you can just save the file in /mnt/flash/root or /etc, whereever you
want. but /var is in RAM, so this is non-permanent memory. the other 4
subdirs 1 2 3 4 are for mounting usb drives or harddisk, whatever, some
external media devices.

and with 3, i cannot help you, anyway, i never used gdb and don't know why
you want to use it.

greets,ernst
