If you mean, /usr/bin/cvs.. then you should be aware that there is an identical version in ports/devel/cvs. Having a single version in ports has the advantage that the same bug fixes are available to all branches of FreeBSD. A number of folks have expressed a desire to see the transition from src to ports be as seamless and painless as possible.
