Follow-up Comment #4, bug #15603 (project freeciv): Look at this Sun announcement of Freeciv (SDL) on Solaris 10. They say they can't compile the Gtk+ requires GTK_STOCK_EDIT (which the docs say was introduced in version 2.6)

I'm not saying that the above link is an argument against using much newer Gtk APIs.
