I got a recording with sound, I'd just like to wait until I hear back from the BBC before I decide how to handle it, if that's ok.

Here's a transcript (bear in mind we recorded over an hour's worth in case you feel I didn't mention this or that - we probably did but 2 1/2 minutes is actually quite good for screen time!): Iain MacGillEathain: If you ever wondered what it would be like to control the world armed with Gaelic or what would happen if you sent a spaceship to Alpha Centauri filled with the language of Eden, you have a chance to find out now. In a new Gaelic game, Freeciv, you can now find out about that and lots more. And as the name suggests, it doesn't cost anything. Pàdraig MacAoidh reporting. Pàdraig MacAoidh: Behold the ancient heroes of the Scots, marching against... the Basques?? Michael Bauer: I'm Michael Bauer and I'm playing the side of the Basques in this game.
Catrìona Colsman: I'm Catrìona Colsman and I'm playing the Scots.
MB: The game is called Freeciv and it's what's called a round-based strategy game. PMA: In the game, you strive to lead a people from the stone age right through to the stage of a space-age civilisation. CC: You have to be quite smart initially about what you build in each town. There are improvements - for example you can build a granary which will help the town grow or a market. The market gets you more taxes which means more money and research. PMA: There's a hope that the game will help adults learning the language and children with Gaelic. MB: Primarily, it's a fun game, that's the key thing, that you or whoever plays it enjoys doing so. But there's another side to it at the same time. If something uses language, that impacts the language use of whoever reads it, plays it or uses it. CC: It's good fun to get things like that in Gaelic. I'm learning new terminolog, especially since I'm not a native speaker. So it's goo to create a Gaelic-speaking environment, especially if there are few people around you who speak the language. So it's another fun opportunity to use the language. PM: To win the game, you have to conquer all cities or send a spaceship to Alpha C. So who's winning this one? Well, it's still running. PMA reporting for BBC An Là, under attack from pirates near Ondarroa
IMGE: I'm not placing any bets!

Slàn,

Michael
