Hi Eric,

thank you for your efforts, but you answered my remarks which I solely
mentioned requesing not to be asnwered.

*** My question concerned the integration / use of OpenGEM.***

In regard to your reply: I hacked the system in several ways testing
it for a couple of days. Not a really big deal to me, I made my remark
solely to note that an unmodified installation should work "out of the
box" (bevore one "hacks it away") pre it's called 'stable'.

The installation procedure of FreeDOS is near to be ready, but it is not.
For ex.:
By an unformatted partition the installer offers XFDISK, which agains
offers FAT32 file system by **DEFAULT**. The defrag included in the
1.0 disc can not handle this.
You can set language/keyboard during the installation but it's useless
if it has no effect.
Setting the network other than DHCP fails in every case hanging the
installer (for ex: If one choses to supply with the network
information by replies than the 'nameserver' is not asked by the
installer and than the installer fails/hangs because the nameserver is
unknown etc. etc.)

I look forward a bugfix release let's say version 1.1

Just mention (don't need a reply):
I would like to see an option by the installation for the directory
layout which would give the users more freedom organizing their system
(not everyone likes the "throw everything in one box" layout), for
ex.: I use the following directory layout:

C:\HOME # aka "Documents and Settings"
C:\PROGRAMS # here are the additional applications
C:\PROGRAMS\A1
C:\PROGRAMS\A2
C:\PROGRAMS\An
C:\SYSTEM\ # yes, this is the system
C:\SYSTEM\DRIVERS\ # and it's drivers
C:\SYSTEM\DRIVERS\NET
C:\SYSTEM\DRIVERS\AUDIO
C:\SYSTEM\DRIVERS\VIDEO
C:\TMP # temprorary files

Again: does anyone know how is it possible to run BAT file from the
OpenGEM desktop? (they are opened by default.)
Further: does someone know whether it is possibe to make icons of
native DOS applications on the GEM Desktop.
I ask because I was unable to find an appropriate documentation, sorry.

Cheers,

Christian Simonyi
