Ok, so that's really bad. This seems to be a compiler issue.
Lemme talk to some people I know who are more knowledgeable on compiler
stuffs. And see if they know / understand something.
I am very reluctant to change the core decoding code, b/c who knows, changing
it could lead to similar errors on other systems! :-) But perhaps if I can
figure out a workaround, we could give you a compile-time option for you to go
down a different code path that does something different.
