Some additional questions:
Did you import FreePM into your Zope root? There are a couple of places
where FreePM uses <dtml-var BASEn> to find an object within itself.
This should only cause an object not found error though.
Open up a terminal and run top. What are the Python threads doing with
CPU & Memory?
You may want to increase the number of threads to 10. You can do this
with -t 10 in your Zope startup script.
