To Dan:

In response about not liking template systems and prefering dictation:  No problem, have the transcriptionist type in your note in to the computer.  You can still benefit from online prescribing and centralized record keeping.  Numerous studies have shown how much time is spent looking for charts.  This will be eliminated.  In addition you will benefit from drug - drug and drug - disease interactions.  Plus there is a built in tickle file for any studies that you order for your patients.  Right now many offices do not accurately maintain there tickle file and every year doctors are sued because they lost that pathology report with the abnormal pap smear and the patient did not follow up for six months.  In FreePM all studies are listed as pending at acentral location for a nurse to update.  If a test result is not back in a timely fashion then a follow call can be made.
