Just wanted to thank both Alan and Franklin for their help :) It's up, authenticating via MySQL, and it seems to be working. I just have to sort out the groups and users now with the required attributes, but that's just a matter of formality I believe (or hope rather!)
I'm slowly but surely getting the hang of things, making sense of everything in my own merry little way...
