BettyAnn,

Others have been using the new Intel Mac's with freesurfer regularly.
The PowerPC Mac's have been used in a previous Freesurfer course, and
work as well as the Linux distribution.

If you will be using the MacBook Pro laptop primarily as a display
station, to view and edit Freesurfer volumes and surfaces, then 2GB is
enough. If you plan on running the recon-all stream, and want to still
work on the machine at the same time, then 4GB is recommended.

Also, if you will be using it as a display machine, then I would
recommend a 17" display, with the high-resolution (1900x1200) option.
You can quickly run out of screen space when the GUI's and xterm's are
open. 2.4GHz dual CPU, 200GB HD, Nvidia GeForce should be fine.
