I thought to take the mesh(es) out to something like 3D Studio Max or Maya and do the animation there, where one can just specify keyframes and the software computes the rest of the frames in between. I'll have a look at that option if I find a spare time later. For now I've made just a two nice snapshots of the pial surfaces.
