Hi Roberto,

1. Yes, you can certainly do volume-based morphometry with FreeSurfer.
2. Neuroquant is a commercialization of one relatively small piece of 
FreeSurfer. None of the current developers of FreeSurfer have any financial 
interest in NeuroQuant
