What do you get when you run "echo $SUBJECTS_DIR"?

Is the "setenv SUBJECTS_DIR" line really commented out? You must set
SUBJECTS_DIR, see the example configuration file on the wiki and under
$FREESURFER_HOME/bin/dmrirc.example.
