Hi Noam

do you know if they are compressed? If so, you can try decompressing them and converting them (dcmdrle dcmdjpls). I thought we detected the compression and wrote out a message, so that might not be the problem, but it's easy enough to try

I’m having trouble using the commands mri_convert and recon-all, both of
which produce the same error:

test.dcm does not contain a Siemens ASCII header
has this file been anonymized?
ERROR: cannot unpack mosiacs without ASCII header

I’ve read through the forum and did find similar problems but no solution
that I could apply to my case:

1. The DICOMs are T1 weighted data set that was recently acquired on a
Siemens Skyra whole-body scanner (version VD13c SP2)
2. The DICOMs were not anonymized (I can verify that by running
“mri_probdicom” tool which prints out the full header information.
3. I’ve tried it with both .dcm and .IMA files from the scanner and get the
same error.

The Freesurfer version that I have is the latest (I just installed it). I’ve
only reconstructed one data set so far - which is the initial data that is
provided with the installation.
I’ve not managed to process any other data and get the same error when
loading multiple / single DICOMs, from T1 or T2 weighted data sets.

Any idea on how to overcome this problem?

Thank you in advance,
