That will not work because the AAL atlas is not in the same space. I think the AAL is in colin27 space, so download colin27, run recon-all, and then map the labels to the surface.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I was guessing that, but didn’t know how to tell the recon-all command to use the AAL Atlas. And if I can just download the AAlv3 Atlas (https://www.gin.cnrs.fr/en/tools/aal/ <https://secure-web.cisco.com/1ha53fgZ8E-tHiie_WsIuzzloBAXNTlD4tdjnQFonGl8A9wtZbo-0vGwdtYDUbcJ70sK2VZUBjwx1LskbqxeL3cYzuDS_VIRTDB67nn-lISm4_7M8CGSjIVa1nd53eTU1W4XptFpCa7gTIuq4HwZyEII4UAEssOcnDEmukmhbUp1uiKilkF_DuptPA50-HCxSkOTv5TL8U0eD7rH08S4Gyd1wZepIEtNVqD8FavB8VvZ9oTJqh1yl0D8I2b84wLPm/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gin.cnrs.fr%2Fen%2Ftools%2Faal%2F>) and put that folder into the freesurfer/average folder.

Cheers,
