If you run mri_info on it, you will see an orientation (eg, axial,
saggitta, coronal). Most of the time PET images are delivered in axial
format in which case you would spec --psf-slice as the axial PSF

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying the fwhm varies across axes?
If so, you can pass different fwhms for each axis to mrI_gtmpvc with the
--psf-col, --psf-row, --psf-slice options. If you are saying that PSF is
space variant, then we don't have good options.
