One of the neatest things I found last year, was the ZeroTier network.

A group of us had ADS-B receivers and wanted to network them together.
ZeroTier allowed us to create a private LAN that ends-up being just a
routable device/address on our computer. I think this would
extrapolate to digital radio and ax.25 networking, and be a much
better solution than Amprnet.

Not many of us need a world-routable IP address. We just need a Virtual LAN.

The ZeroTier can be routable to the Internet. Just select a device to
NAT for the LAN.
