Hi David
Thanks for the info . OK found README_fsk.md in CODEC2 repo. right. yes
it does pretty well for an incoherent FSK demod.
I'll start reading up on the FreeDV source to see how I can plug my own
modems in.
Clip function- hard clipping generates aliasing in the digital
domain, it makes a huge mess you can never clean up. Do you want me to
suggest a bandwidth constrained squasher (and code ) ? It's how we do
it in digital speech audio processing...
I'll have to get in there and understand the build environment. I am
happy to use whatever linux distro that plays most well with the build,
or is windows preferred ?
cheers

Hi Glen,
First of all, some definitions:
FreeDV is an open source digital voice protocol that integrates the
modems, codecs, and FEC. FreeDV is available as a GUI application, an
open source library (FreeDV API), and in hardware (the SM1000 FreeDV
adaptor).
So I think you are asking "is there is a FreeDV mode using 4FSK, LDPC
and Codec 2?" No, there isn't. The FSK modes get close, see README_fsk.md
Cheers,
David
