It seems like Brian has put a lot of thought and work into implementing recording functionality. Would it be possible to re-use Brian's code instead of re-writing it?I have that written already, albeit in `C', for efficiency. If I get time (not hopeful) I might try re-writing it in Python just to test out my python skills. :-)
I don't see the fact that it is written in C as a problem, freevo is already using mplayer and other bits of code written in C.
Brian: how hard would it be to call your code from Python?
