Maybe... but that sounds like a more substantial change; I'm thinking we should just made a special tag in the info_area that specifies that something is mutable, i.e. <text width="100" align="right" mutable="yes" font="info value">Elapsed:</text> and then we take any element that is mutable and store it's coordinates; then when we are asked to redraw the screen in 'mplayer.refresh()' weredraw that area only.
