Hi,
now that 1.4 is out and the code freeze is gone, here some new stuff I
made (freevo moves from stable back to testing):
o Reworked the directory variables. There are now new variables to
control if a random playlist is inserted, the whole dir is a
playlist and if Freevo should display the m3u files. You can set it
on a per directory bases.
o Make it possible to 'play' a directory. E.g. you can set the default
action for image directories without subdirs to play not browse.
o Speaking of images: I added fading in the image viewer
o The player plugins now rate themself how good they can play an
item. You can set a prefered player.
o The xine plugin now can also play normal video files
o a virtual filesystem to replace MOVIE_DATA_DIR and COVER_DIR
What's that? There is now a new variable OVERLAY_DIR and the file in
util vfs.py. With that it's possible to place meta data like covers
and fxd files outside the real directory (e.g. for cds). There are
wrappers for basic os functions, like isfile. Now Freevo can save a
file in every directory, it just uses the OVERLAY_DIR if normal
writing is not possible. DO NOT BUT MEDIA FILES IN THERE (it may
work, I don't know).
Future plans:
o rename config variables and make a helper script for it
o fix os.X usage when we need the vfs. I guess I covered most items,
but I don't know for sure.
