Here are some of my beefs with other distros:
1) Ubuntu defaults to GNOME which I can't stand.
2) Fedora has some sort of license OTHER than the GPL.
3) SuSE seems OK but I've just not gotten around to trying it.
4) Damn Small is too lightweight for me.
5) I've not really looked into Gentoo but I like the premise of compiling the whole system from scratch.
For me, Debian Unstable is the best fit. I can usually fix any problems and everything just works right the first time (usually...)
