I myself made the plunge in August, dropping a small fortune on a Pioneer PRO-151FD. Watching content on my HTPC is such a night and day difference (compared to my previous configuration consisting of an old rear projection connected via svideo). I now consider myself an HD bigot, and refuse to watch content in SD if it's available in HD. > One long lasting problem that I have had has been fixed by adding a > sound card to the system. I wonder if your power is that dirty that someone flicking a light on causes a significant voltage irregularity that your previous sound card/chipset happened to not handle so well. (Sounds like a stretch, though.) Had you tried a UPS? Or was the problem something completely different?
