I lastly did an update of freevo1.x from svn and found that after that 
freevo and mplayer use much to much CPU. My whole system which is a 
rather slow one hangs because of 99% CPU usage of freevo when mplayer is 
running.
One thing I noticed was that the mplayer command line contains the 
option -v two times. This seems to slow down mplayer quite a bit.
Because of lack of time I did not investigate that further but returned 
to my old backup copy of freevo...
