I'm currently playing with all the encoding stuff to be able to rip DVDs into OGM and Matroska containers automatically based on DVD_PREF_LANG to rip DVD audio tracks. I'm also playing with subtitle ripping, even if containers support mainly srt and that one nearly always requires user interaction (maybe if containers can contain vobsub this could be an automatic alternative).

So far it works good even if I didn't test every case.
OGM with XVID or DivX and ogg audio works fine with xine and mplayer, Matroska with H264or Xvid or Divx an

But I have a playback problem with matroska : H264 video and AAC audio.
It doesn't produce any sound with xine. It works fine with mplayer/linux and VLC/Win32.
The xine OSD says something like "Audio: ####auto, SPU: ####auto"
Video is displayed ok and detected as expected : "H.264/AVC (ffmpeg) : ...'.

Anyone heard of any problem with xine and AAC ?
I tried to encode aac with both lavc audio and faac.
mkvmerge is muxing them both well... and it only doesn't work with Xine.

Another question : is there any standard couple of codecs used for Matroska files ?
