Actually, I would like to use vlc because it has capability to select
the audios on the fly which as I (think I've mentioned before) is
crucial for those asian karaoke discs which have audio only on left and
audio+vocal on the right for it to be able to downmix/upmix mono to
stereo etc etc etc..

Mplayer and xine is not able to do on-the-fly downmixing and have to
revert to complicated channels selecting/swapping.
