I cannot talk for waldemar, but I haven't drunk a "bit" *fg* > >I think the majority of developers are focusing > >on 1.1 already... > > Since when am I the majority? oO you are doing the most stuff in the moment, but if i am not wrong, even almost everybody else is concentrating on 1.1... the webgui, the ifup-rework, the routerboard-port, and so on... so it's not just about you. > >I think you are doing a great job with freewrt so far and at > >least none of the active freewrt developers would be able to keep this > > work > > … especially kicking the other developers' arses… let say it so: he knows which ass needs a kick from time to time :) > >up at this high level. > > > >or do you just want a democratic authorisation for this (and maybe other > >upcoming) decisions in the freewrt project? > > I vote against that, he should keep the authoritarian authorisation… > so we can blame him if things go wrong. it's not about blaming, it's about the feeling he and the developers should have when they work for freewrt. I think he wanted to start a discussion about the freeness of freewrt. I also think it's free enough already (and for the actual size of the project), but I also wanted to show up some possible alternatives (but more for the future in general). You can't compare a project with 10 developers with another project with 100 or even 1000 developers. They have diffrent needs in their "political" structure. > >if you really want an 100% open opensource project, then maybe a > > constitution would be a good think. maybe project leader elections like > > debian does... > > If you're starting to think in that direction, please fill in form A38 with > 2 copies, paper-mail AND fax them… you know? It's not the badest of all possibilites. > FreeWRT happens because it's needed by users and developers, people and > companies. sure, but that has nothing to do with the whole conversation so far. It's always for the users (for their personal use and/or for companies) > Never touch a running system. "Never change a running system" is just some kind of flowery phrase for a wisdom that is only true for about 50%... If you don't go with the times, then you will have a big problem someday that might not haved arise if you have someting against it by time. Look what happens with telekom or other companies that don't saw a need to rearrange when it was time. But don't get me wrong. I don't want to change a thing in freewrt, I just wanted to correct the "never change a running system" statement. If you really would believe in this statement, then you wouldn't tried stuff like removing the +x bit for init.d scripts, would you ;-P > bye, > //mirabile _______________________________________________ freewrt-developers mailing list [email protected] https://www.freewrt.org/lists/listinfo/freewrt-developers
