For my own work/home network I have a mesh network, but the latency it introduces is objectionable. VOIP doesn't really work, loses words and is generally chopping sounding. I ended-up dragging CAT-6 cables around. It is funny now that one can get affordable 10Gb fiber but the investment to use that around the house is significant. Must replace switches and upgrade to Thunderbolt-based ethernet, new PCIe cards, or just whole new computers. Low-end Macs like the Mini have 10Gb ethernet though.
