Hi, I restart an old post. For me, base can't be bumped directly into current. For me, "ALL" packages from base should be bumped into a wip, and we should ask to mailing list this packages before merge it current as gnome, xorg... Why we don't this method for base Oo With this solution we can wait "ALL" buildservers. We should have already a minimal system working(boot/halt...)
1. create a wip basetesting. 2. bump "ALL" packages from base to this wip. 3. wait "ALL" buildservers except ppc. 4. ask to test to mailing list. 5. wait 2 or 3 days 6. no response or devels say it's ok. We can merge it. (it's the method for x11/gnome... and that work !!!) If we continue to bump some packages directly into current I will use only stable for "ALL" my box. (I don't have the time to search why my wifi don't work with latest kernel... it's an example) If we would lost some users we can continue to bump directly to current. But, for me it's a very bad solution. We can wait some days for testing the base group before merge it into current.(I will not die if glib2,glibc,kernel... is not updated the day of the new release) I don't use some others distributions because for me they bump too quickly some "base" packages. When you read to irc some frugalware devels/users install an other distribution because latest update break his system, it's not acceptable for me. (yes we can't test every hardware/configuration... but we can do a minimum) BTW I don't say latest bump not working, I've not updated my box(s) since 2 weeks. bouleetbil bye _______________________________________________ Frugalware-devel mailing list [email protected] http://frugalware.org/mailman/listinfo/frugalware-devel
