Actually one thing you can already do (in theory) is to use lvm snapshots to do filesystem-independent snapshotting, but I never tried that (it wasn't even possible to have / on lvm before we had dracut). If one experiments with this and could document the results in lvm2's README.Frugalware as a new section, I'm sure that would be useful. ;)
