Not at all... staying there and dealing with it is a choice for sure, although 
a bad choice.  I would say he made the right choice by immigrating to the 
states....

 I'm sure your Grandfather came here legally, and didn't try to hide within the 
system.  Just as my Great Grandfather did from Montreal.

  I'm not against immigration, I'm actually completely for immigration....  
just immigrate legally...

One thing I will say, is that we do have to make it easier for someone to 
immigrate into the States.  That should be part of immigration reform....  It 
shouldn't be a slam dunk for citizenship though...

You know... my grandfather left Latvia because doing so was a lot easier than
staying there and trying to avoid being either shot or sent to Siberia, because
there really wasn't much he could actually do to get rid of Stalin and his
armies an KGB agents. (And yes, the KGB *was* actively looking for my
grandfather)

Are you suggesting he should have stayed there and "dealt with it"?

Saying it's their country to deal with overlooks the very real fact that
often, the only realistic choices are exile and martyrdom.
