hello fellow furthur users,

this latest builds a sweet one, eh?

hats off to the designers : )

...now, that said...to my point...

    i think, (and if i am wrong, please correct me...nicely tho` please ; ),
but don't the "furthur" .shn standards follow the "etree" .shn standards?

i ask because by the etree standards ,(which i will openly admit that i
am one of the most annul subscribers of) i got all but 2 shows (~15 total i
think) in the past week that were messed up to the point that if i had
traded for them i would have most likely, at the least, written some sort of
reply to the sender of advising them on what they had done wrong in
seeding/continuing to trade the shows in their present state.

i got several shows that had different naming in the md5's than the
files them self had, 2 shows that were .shn'ed from real audio (one that
admitted it was, and one marley show that doesn't say it was...but i am 99%
sure was), several more that a check of the sound levels proved them to be
from mp3's, and a few that i'm pretty sure are from re-shn'ed rips of audio
of shows that have already been shn'ed (and there was an error or two in the
rips), a show or two that didn't have .txt files, and of course the tuna
show with it's sector boundary and frequency issues.

    "poor me", right ; )

well i just wanted to say that now that the program is getting it's bugs
worked out, we the users need to get to dealing with "our bugs" (IMHO).

for anyone who is unaware, here is the "seeding FAQ for etree:
http://etree.org/seed.html

i'm not trying to point the finger at any body, say that this "IS" how
furthur should work (just that this is how i "THOUGHT" furthur was supposed
to work), or otherwise make waves, but i see both a great potential for
furthur to spread the "lossless .shn" music wide, far and fast, but i also
see a great deal of ability for furthur to spread schwag (as it is to those
of us who trade .shn because we want exact copies of the music as it was
recorded) equally as wide, far and fast.

the md5 integration goes a long way to insure that what you get is what
was hosted originally, but it says nothing for what that original seed was
(was it from a crispy DAT, or from a crusty mp3 or lesser compression/format
?).

this is a concern that i have had for a while now, but until furthur had
become more stable of a program it didn't seem to be much of a priority, so
i didn't see the use in making issue of it, but now it seems to be "the best
it has been", so i'm just asking if we the users will help to make it "the
best it can be"?

    any thoughts?
