I agree with br0thercr0w that we need to do more education with the newbies about how to use the .shn format. (Including why re-encoding .mp3 (or .ra) to .shn will never improve the sound quality and only create confusion.)
But, that being said, this Furthur community is an off-shoot of the Sugarmegs community. If you're looking for Etree certified music, you're probably looking in the wrong place. Not to say Sugarmegs doesn't have its share of crispy .shns in circulation, just that Sugarmegs is much less stringent about acceptable sources. Perhaps the developers can attached a required "original poster's email" field in the file set info, until the md5 checks with the etree databases are ready. There is already a place for the poster to put his/her name. I like to put my full email address, for this very reason. That way, if you do get a show with errors, you can directly notify the poster, even if they aren't on-line in chat. Until then, I think what br0thercr0w has done here is best. Post to the list and let people know what shows are bad, so we can keep bad seeds to minimum. I just don't think we can ever expect every file set on Furthur to be etree-certified. just my thoughts, tomato PS We were all newbies once...making silly mistakes. Education is the key!
