Agreed. We just bought the book hoping for more specifics, and I must admit
that I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for more specifics on things
like form validation, negative input handling, etc.
Fusebox is a GREAT starting point however. There is just plenty of room to
grow.

Subject: RE: arguments **against** fusebox
I haven't found anything particularly objectionable
about Fusebox, possibly because the methodology is
presented a la carte, and there is no specific set
of standards to which I'm encouraged to conform.
I do, however, find the lack of specific standards
objectionable. Though it's been around for quite
some time, the recently published book reads like
a rough draft. It outlines several interesting
ideas, but it doesn't really get into specifics
or lay down any absolute standards. (Please bear in
mind that I'm still bitter about having to purchase
an "open standard.")
The main problem seems to be that there is "no
contolling authority." Fusebox.org isn't a
governing body like the W3C, and seems to
maintain the philosophy that becoming one would
hinder the community's ability to innovate or
adapt Fusebox to diffent platforms and
situations.
I understand that everyone's needs are different
and we can benefit most from a methodology if we
tailor it to our own needs, but a solid foundation
to start from would be nice. And if there's a formal
way to contribute our ideas, it should be much
easier to refine and build off of each other's
ideas.
I would love to see an official specfication for
Fusebox (and would gladly contribute to one). I
don't think a core specification with a number of
well documented optional best practices is too
much to ask.
