I’d like to add that it is always better to focus on policy than personality in politics, but in cases like this, when a candidate has no political track record, the public doesn’t have much else to consider than personal characteristics.

 

It is significant to me that Bill Simon dropped out in favor of Arnold.  He and his ally, former Gov. Pete Wilson, have a grudge match against Davis.  If a true conservative party man like Simon concedes in a circus recall race to a newbie politico wannabe who isn’t really that conservative, then the California GOP certainly is desperate and one should suspect more.  I admire Calif. Sen. McClintock for staying in the race.
