I guess it all depends on where you live and what you have to work with. The best public transit system I've ever seen, in terms of design, was Moscow's metro: spokes radiating out of the center of the city and inner and outer rings connecting all those spokes. Moscow is a city of some 12 million, but you could get from any one part of it to another in a very short time, provided the wheels stayed on the rails, a problem in 1995. Ed
