Hello. I've found that the only WM that handle both 8bit and UTF-8 locales quiet well is blackbox, which (unpacked) code is only 500K. Even it is written in a rather strange maner: it seems that LC_CTYPE can be never set in blackbox.
It seems that it dos not matter for X is a string of utf-8 or koi8-r or iso8859-1 characters, the internal representation is multibyte.
