Not really.  In this case I'd prefer the old way.  Either the
"cvs" name is used everywhere or nowhere, but not in some places
but not in others.  Actually, it should *really* be everywhere
where a user might see it:

 - configure summary
 - man page
 - fvwm --version
 - fvwm-config
 - tarball name
 - ...
