The logs on the Management server can be configured to be written in another directory. See ID Solution ID: 3.0.292111.2214283 in SecureKnowledge. Additionally, rotating the logs is as simple as running "fw logswitch" this can be done in a scheduled task and does not require cpstop. In regards to the original question. I personally shy away from the GUI configuration for the log maintenance as I've had problems with it in the past and use fw logswitch at scheduled intervals. T. It's written in perl and performs the following on the management station : cpstop move logs cpstart Export logs Zip logs and exports Ftp to another box. It runs fine with active perl on win2k server. If anyone is interested, I can post it on the list. The way I understand it, the FIREWALL objects should NOT have their Logs and Master settings configured to do any type of log switching because logs are not stored on the modules, only the mgmt servers should be configured to do so...is this correct? I'm specifically referring to the Logs and Masters-->"Schedule Log Switch to" setting on the Mgmt station object. thanks Daniel Samaan [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 8.0.3 iQA/AwUBQAQJ/KnLgFwVjaYREQKZpwCfW5YN/SRlJrkRlrRpus+l+0dHocAAoNHI VG19BwQzPQPMkVahJvOnjWcn =wlXq -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================= ================================================= To set vacation, Out-Of-Office, or away messages, send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the BODY of the email add: set fw-1-mailinglist nomail ================================================= To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================= If you have any questions on how to change your subscription options, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] =================================================
