This all depends on what your needs are. Some of the factors would be:
1. Load 2. Functinallity 3. Management 4. Support I've used both Intel servers and Nokia IP 3xx,4xx appliances and would certainly recommend going for Intel with the SecurePlatform option, unless you have advanced requirements that appliances like Nokia supports. An Intel box with SecurePlatform on can be rebuild on new hardware in 30 min, and is extremly cheap to purchase and run. The nokia platform I found hard to work with, especially when it comes to updating OS etc, although that might have been improved in the last 2 years. One of the questions is whether to use FW-1 on a standard Intel server or to use a special-purpose optimized version of FW-1 on a dedicated hardware platform such as Nokia firewall appliance or Crossbeam systems C30/X40. Does anyone have any advice on what factors are important when making such a decision? Thanks, Emily _________________________________________________________________ Don't just search. Find.
